About Me
I am a campaigner with a deep love for nature, committed to making a positive impact on society and the environment.
My journey into climate activism began as a teenager, when I became a Green Team Leader at school! Since then, I have worked on a variety of campaigns and projects, focusing primarily on the nuances of sustainability and the outdoors.
My passion for the outdoors is deeply linked to my desire to protect it and make it as inclusive as possible. Whilst I have faced forms of discrimination, I am unable to speak on behalf of others and deeply value people’s lived experiences so take every opportunity to empower and amplify a wide range of voices, experiences and perspectives. I co-created a Sheffield-based female climbing YouTube channel to showcase and encourage women in the sport. Since then, I’ve become a qualified climbing instructor and have held free coached climbing sessions for people from global majority backgrounds. I also sat on the ED&I committee for Climb Out Festival - the UK’s first queer climbing festival - and was on the organising team for the Wanderer’s of Colour festival - the UK’s first BIPOC climbing festival.
Inspired by the complex relationship between society and our environment, I have strived to deepen my knowledge of what it truly means to live in a sustainable world. Whilst completing my degree in Digital Media and Society, I worked as a campaigns intern at WWF-UK and later as a Trade Policy officer. After graduating, I became the first-ever elected student officer for Welfare and Sustainability at Sheffield Students Union representing over 27,000 students on a range of sustainability matters. Since then, I have completed a Msc in Earth Futures: Environments, Communities & Relationships and am now a PhD candidate in Decolonial Climate Education Research. I am also the Social Media and Marketing Lead for Black Earth, an award-winning interview podcast celebrating nature and inspiring black women leaders in the environmental movement.
I want to continue to use my skills and experiences to elevate voices and explore the intersections between sustainability, ED&I and the outdoor adventure industry. I love being outside in nature, whether it’s reading in a park, rock climbing, hiking, or just hanging out with friends. Nature brings me so much happiness, and I love sharing that joy with others.
